About the Busesito

Launched in 2023, the Busesito is a 24-foot van transformed into a mobile bilingual preschool. It builds on the success of our four-star early learning program at La Escuelita by reaching children in communities where access to quality preschool is limited.

Children ages 3 to 5 attend classes twice a week for six months. The curriculum, led by certified early childhood educators, covers:

  • Pre-reading and letter recognition

  • Math concepts like numbers and counting

  • Shapes, colors, and science through hands-on activities

  • Social-emotional development and school readiness

Instruction begins in Spanish and gradually transitions to English, helping children prepare for kindergarten.

Supporting Families Too

The Busesito is part of Xiente’s two-generation approach. While children are in class, caregivers receive:

  • Parenting tips and educational newsletters

  • Books and school supplies

  • Referrals to housing, healthcare, and job support

  • Access to economic mobility classes through our partner sites

Graduates of the program (children and parents) receive certificates to celebrate their progress.

Partner With Us

The Busesito program is made possible with support from the William Penn Foundation and Vanguard. We’re currently seeking partnerships with local churches, libraries, museums, and nonprofits to bring the Busesito to more communities across Philadelphia.
